lab mix puppy

Question
We bought a lab mix puppy @ 8 weeks old and were told that it was mixed with German Shepherd.  When we brought the pup to the vet, she said it appeared "pit bullish".  We never would have taken the pup if we had known it was any part bit bull as we have many young children in our extended family.  I wish I could send a photo of the dog to show you and see if it really appears to be "pit bullish" to everyone else.  To me, she looks like a black lab mutt.  She's all black, with white at the ends of her back feet and a little white on her chest.  How concerned should we be?  Should we try to find a new home for her before our son gets too attached?  I know pit bulls have a reputation for being a great family pet for years and then attacking without cause.  If anyone can help us make a better educated decision, I would appreciate it very much.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
There's other breeds that look like pitbulls but aren't,such as English bull terriers staffordshire bull terriers,American bulldogs,American staffordshire terriers, boxers and a number of mastiff breeds-and if they are mixed into something else they may even look more 'pit bull like'

And as for pitbulls,I had one for 14 years and never growled, snapped or snarled unlike the Scottish terrier I have now

Allot of the attacks that you hear about in the news are often overblown, and allot are not true pitbull but mixes or one of the other breeds I have already mentioned-how you train and bring the dog up has allot to do with the way it acts, also 'pitbulls; despite what you read in the media are at the bottom of the list of dogs likely to bite with cocker spaniels and many small breeds at the top
