Michro chiping and heat cycles

Hello, I have three dogs two 'fixed' the others just a puppy and I plan to have a few litters from her, I wont ask questions about how to care for her when shes pregnant or anything but I will ask this when or how offen should a boston terriers cylces begin/happen?

And my other question is about michro chiping my dogs, since two are altered already and the other wont be spayed right away can I get the chips but in while there up and running or do they need to be sleep to put them in? I was wondering if you know anything about these if they are really safe for life if there are ever anyside effects with anything about them... since you'd worked in a vets office I thought you'd be best to ask these things to. I hope you can help me with this, thanks.

Hi Tara!

Your boston will come into her first heat cycle anywhere from 6 months to a year.  After that, it will be every 6 months.  It is nice to have them micro chipped while they are asleep so that it won't upset them, however, it can be done at anytime and it's not so much that it hurts, it's just a bit scarey for the dog.  I haven't ever heard of any bad side effects. It's actually a very good thing to do!  If your dog is ever lost or stolen, and ends up at a dog pound, she will automatically be tested for a chip.  Many a pet have been reunited with their owners because of this.  I think it's a very good thing.
