My pregnant 8-year old terrier!

Question
Ok, I have an 8-year old rat/jack Russell terrier mix and shes never had a litter of pups that we know of.  We have had her for about 5 or 6 years.  She doesn't swell when the goes into heat and she has been "got to" more than one time since we've had her and shes never gotten pregnant.  The last time was on 10/11/06 by our 2-year old Pomeranian.  Around the 3rd week of her "pregnancy" she just bloated out around her ribs and now shes beginning to get milk.  Shes due on Dec. 13, 06.  Shes almost stopped eating and shes really restless now.  I've heard of phantom pregnancies and was just wondering what to do.  I hope you can help, I'm getting a little uneasy.

Answer
Hi Heather,  Keep her on calcium supplements just in case she is pregnant.  If it is a false pregnancy, then it will eventually go away.  Pretty much treat it as if it were for real and be prepared for her to give birth.  Hopefully she is not actually starting real labor now as it would be way too soon and the pups would definitely not survive.  Hope this helps,
