How old is to old to train a dog

Hi Nancy, I was wondering How old is to old to train a dog. I have a 2 year old bull terrior. She a wonderful dog and overall very good. However, she dosen't follow simple commands like sit or stay. It is mainly my fault due to the fact when I got her she was very very sick( I got her at 8 wks)and had been badly abused. It took her a while to get better and when she did I never pushed the issue with her. She is such a fragile dog that I maily spoiled her instead of teaching her. Now, I'm of course regreting that. I was just wondering it 2 yrs old too old to teach her simple commands.

Hi Megan,
You will be relieved to know that in the 'old days' a dog wasn't introduced to obedience training until they were two years old.  Today, however, we have learned to start them earlier because it is easier to handle a 10 lb dog rather than a 70 lb dog.    Anyway two is a wonderful age to start training.  Take her to a class, though, that is the best way to train any dog.
