dog teeth clicking

Question
I have two male Welsh Corgi/Mini Dauschunds that are 4 years old (litter mates)  One of my boys has recently started clicking his teeth together whenever he lies down to nap.  There is nothing wrong with his teeth or mouth and he is in good health.  I have been worried that he might be in pain even though he doesn't appear to be.  I know that teeth clicking is a sign of pain in rabbits.  During some research on the net I could only find one reference that said some dogs do this as a sign of pleasure, or maybe just a release.  Could this be true?

Answer
Hi Pam;
In over 65 years of raising dogs, this is a first one for me.
I don't think I have run across teeth clicking before.
If it is when he is asleep, nd hs feet ar twitching, maybe he is dreaming he is hunting.
Dogs do this. I used to have a little Beagle that would twitch and jump, and sometimes even bugle in her sleep.

If your Vweterinarian has told you there is nothing wrong with the teeth, and he is in otherwise good helth, I wouldn't worry.
Dogs do dream, and sometimes they wil twitch like they are running or jumping, and sometimes make funny little sounds.
