puppy chewing

i have a 6 MO old terrier mix that i rescued. i give him plenty of toys and dog bones for chewing but he prefers everything else from my shoes ,socks or whatever he can get his mouth on. its mainly when I'm gone during the day which is usually 9-10 hours. i know this is long for a puppy but i have to make a living any suggestions?

two things,
put him on eukanuba puppy food for another 6 months.  that will help
and get some toys that you have to put the treats inside so he has to work to get them out.  
also confine him to a room when you are not there, like a laundry room, so he cannot hurt himself by ingesting anything that might kill him.
