pads on boston terriers floor

Question
I have a 4 year old boston terrier.  Recently (4 weeks ago) he started slipping/slding on the newly waxed hard wood floors.  We've had the wax removed, but he still slides, or is afraid.  He won't walk across the hard wood floor, prefers carpet and tile.  His pads are awfully soft.  Are they supposed to be?  Does this make it slippery for him?  How can we help him?  Thanks.  Anh Doan

Answer
Is this the same floor he has walked on all his life?  If so, something must have changed.  Usually a dog's paws will feel smooth as you slide you hand back the pad, but rougher in the forward direction.  If his don't maybe he needs to see a vet.

Normally dogs adjust to slippery floors.  We have an industrial grade moisture cure urethane on our hardwood floor.  When it was new, it took the dog a little while to adjust to it.  Visitors had trouble, but adjusted to it.
