Havanese

Question
2 months ago we got a 5 month old male Havanese from a "breeder". We found out he had never been socialized ot housetrained. As a result, one of his issues is being really afraid of strangers (he's fine with us now), he shies away constantly when someone tries to pet him. Also, crate training did not work for him, he peed and pooped in his cage and would just lie around in it. Our trainer for our other dog (A Pyr that crate training worked for) said to put himin a cat carrier to break him of the habit. I can't do that to him. We have paper trained him, but now want to start him going outside. We bring him out with the Pyr to watch and learn, but so far nothing. Any suggestions on the stranger fear and learning to go outside?

Answer
Well for the stranger fear, have some friends of yours come up and pet while giving him a small treat and at first have them move there hand over ours while petting him

Now as for the house training since the crate didn't work(it usually does) you are going to have to take him out side about at least one three hours, and keep him out until he at least pees
