Border Collie mix

Question
Hi, I recently adopted a Border Collie mix from the SPCA. Lucy is the sweetest girl.  She is fixed, does not use the bathroom in the house, sits, never barks, etc.  I walk her at least 1-2 times a day, and take her out a lot. But, I am having a major problem with her chewing up my stuff. The first day I left her to go to work I left her in my laundry room. She was perfect. Then, I trusted her and gave her reign of the house and she decided to tear up a pair of my shoes that were up pretty high.  The next day she was back in the landry room and got ahold of my blinds. So, I went and purchased a crate. She loved it. That night she would lay in there etc. I would close it for 15 minutes and open it back up and she was great. So, when I went to work today, I put her in her crate with blanket.  I had put a towel right outside of her crate.  Lucy somehow got the towel inside her crate and and destroyed it.  I have now read not to give her anything but chew toys in her crate. (kong, etc.) She does not seem interested in them at all. And she is not scared of the crate. She will run in to get a treat but will run back out immediately. Any suggestions? I am at a loss on what to do with her!! Thank you

Answer
Likely she was crate trained in the past.  I would continue to use it, just being careful to keep anything like a towel away from it.  Even if she doesn't seem interested, I would leave a sturdy toy in it with her, and nothing else, not even the blanket.
