soft dogs

we have 2 american bull dogs 1 of them barks if someone comes near the gate but once person no matter who they are enter thy are more likely to lick them than warn off ...how do i get them to stop any tom or harry entering without making them vicious

That is a highly specialized area that I have little experience in.  With all the public hysteria over Pit Bulls, I would be very careful.  I know they aren't Pit bulls, but that makes little difference to the irrational.  You need a good professional with experience in the area.  Finding the right one will be tough.  Nobody has a good answer to all the questions.  Sorry I am not more help.
