fearful 8 month old bulldog

My bulldog Sarge recently (last few weeks) has become very fearful.  When we go for a walk he'll duck down and blink his eyes like he is about to be hit.  He was always a very confident puppy and was very curious and happy and brave. We have never struck him. We left him with a reputable sitter just prior to this behavior, and brought up my concerns with her.  She says she didn't notice any strange behavior.  It seems to be getting worse. Please help.

That sounds like it might actually be a type of seizure-so it would be a good idea to call your vet and discuss this with him,esp if this is recent it's more likely to be a seizure then a behavioral problem

Another problem it may be it that his eyes might be sensitive to the sun

How ever,if the tests come back and nothing is wrong with him,try offering him treats to get him to walk sometimes that will bring them around to walk-sometimes dogs do become more submissive over time,and the best way to encourage them to be more outgoing is to expose them to people and places,such as a park so that they can out grow there fears
