Thank you for writing to me about your dog.

There is no best age for a male German Shepherd to mate...they are always ready if they are not neutered.  However, in my personal opinion, I think that breeding should be put on hold until every dog has a home.  For every puppy born there is one less home for a dog waiting on death row.  Please adopt rather than breed.

It is also best health wise for your dog to be neutered as it prevents certain cancers from occurring later in life.
