liquid coming out of my dogs nipples

Question
I have a 1yr old golden retriever.  I have noticed that her nipples are hanging down really low and i happened to squeeze one and a ton or clear sticky liquid came out.  Why is this?  I read a few questions before and some people said that it could be a false pregnancy and should take her to the vet.  What should i do.  She has not been spayed yet and her last period was in August and there is no way she is pregnant.  Thanks!

Answer
Are you absolutely POSITIVE your girl is not pregnant? If you're sure then it probably is a false pregnancy, it could however be an infection as well. IS she showing any other signs? Loss of appetite of rise in temperature? Or is she making beds, hiding out, scratching to dig up a bed for her babies? It's not necessary to take her to the vet if you're sure it's a false pregnancy. Usually they come and go on their own. But giving her a small stuffed animal will give her something to love on. If you see any of the other symptoms (decrease in appetite, depression, fever, drinking a lot of water etc) take her on in the vet , as she could have a uterine or vaginal infection.
