Cavalier king charles

Question
We found a cavalier king charles at a rescue organization today.  They think Charlie is 3 years old.  His left hind leg does not appear to cause any pain - he's very active - but he hobbles on it.  He's going to a vet tomorrow but we're wondering - could he have hip dysplasia or could it be an old break that wasn't treated?  If it's an old break, can we have it fixed for him so he can walk straight?

Answer
Viki,
That is very much a vet question,,,but I have seen some dogs do very well on just three legs..It would pobably need an xray to learn what the problem is.....Have them take one of his hips as well and that will let you know....In either case start giving him glucosomine and chondrotin.  If he is arthritic this will help lubricate his joints.  There are also drugs that the vet can recommend if he has any discomfort.
