Sleeplessness

QUESTION: I have a 2 yr old yorkie and in the last couple of months we can not get her to sleep at night. She is up all night. Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Well what may help is to play with her a lot in the evening,even up to 20 minutes before bedtime,that way she will be more tired,and also crating her at night may help as well

Well it could be a medical problem,such as some type of infection,so being checked out by the vet won't hurt

There's also a product you can buy in a health food store called 'rescue remedy' and it calms dogs down without using drugs to make them tried-you can try that in combination with using a crate,now it is up to you where you place the crate,some dogs sleep better in your bedroom,but you may not want the dog in the bedroom,so you can place it just outside of your bedroom if you wish
