Vomiting and Bloody Stool

Question
I have a 10 month old Bichon that was vomiting a couple of days ago and had diarehhea. Now she is not vomiting, but her stool goes from normal to bloody diarehhea in the same day. She is drinking water, but does not want to eat. I did change her from Beneful Puppy to Beneful Healthy Weight (my older dog's food) and looking back on it now, that seems to be when this all started. I have put her back on the puppy food, but she is not eating. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Susan,

My suggestion is to take your dog to your vet for an examination.

It just may be a coincidence that your dog's problems began when you switched foods. If you didn't change her food correctly (gradually over a period of about 5 days), it's possible that she would have developed simple diarrhea.  Bloody diarrhea can mean other problems, which are better left to a doctor to diagnose.

Best of luck,
Patti
