Question
I own 4 pitbulls and 2 sharpeis and a hound dog.
One of my pitbulls and the hound dog dug out of the fence and ran away. Last night was the first time since the other dogs ran away that I left the rest alone. One of my male pitbulls is not fixed and was caged when I left him at the house. When i came home I found my female shar pei had been badly bitten all over we do not have a 24 hour vet where i live so i have to wait until monday to take her. Not one of my other dogs had a scratch on them. My pitbull was out of the cage somehow when i returned home. My gut tells me it was my other shar pei as they are much more aggressive then pitbulls. Could they have been reestablishing dominance? The female that ran away was the dominate female. And with no way of knowing who really cause her injuries I'm not sure how to deal with this situation, other than to cage them all separately when i leave. the female sharpei is 2 the male is 3. the male pitbull is 3, there is a puppy that is 4 months, and the other female pitt is 1

Answer
." Could they have been reestablishing dominance?"

I suppose that could be the explanation.  If you're not there to supervise, and you are concerning about the well-being of the dogs, I would say that caging them would be the best option.

I personally am not in favor of keeping dogs outside.  I feel that there are too many ways for them to get into trouble or danger when left alone, dog poachers for one example.
