Question
We have a 7-year old American Staffordshire Terrier who has experienced irritated/itchy feet for the majority of his life. We have taken him to at least four vets, and although most seem to think it is an allergy, none can really make it go away for good. We have tried many things from benadryl to diet change, to a six-month oral "serum" which was very costly.  We recently moved from Arizona to Montana and hoped that the change would remove him from whatever was causing the irritation, but it seems just as bad, if not worse. The symptoms come around about once a week, he licks his feet until the skin between his toes breaks, then he heals for a few days and is OK. Cycle continues. So far none of the vets suggested testing him for a particular allergy.. Is that effective? Please help if you can... Thanks,

Answer
How much exercise does your staffie get.  He should be walked with a pack on his back at least two to three miles a day.  He should have a couple of  bottles of water in the packs.  He should have some big knuckle bones to chew on at home while you are there and can supervise and I wuld also start him on some yogart in case it is a yeast infection.   some dogs will lick their feet from boredom or lack of exercise.  Get him some of those toys that you put food in as well and alternate those with the bones
good luck

ps  start the yogart VERY little at a time so he won't get intergestion
