Am-staff itchy feet

Question
We have a 7-year old American Staffordshire Terrier who has experienced irritated/itchy feet for the majority of his life. We have taken him to at least four vets, and although most seem to think it is an allergy, none can really make it go away for good. We have tried many things from benadryl to diet change, to a six-month oral "serum" which was very costly.  We recently moved from Arizona to Montana and hoped that the change would remove him from whatever was causing the irritation, but it seems just as bad, if not worse. The symptoms come around about once a week, he licks his feet until the skin between his toes breaks, then he heals for a few days and is OK. Cycle continues. So far none of the vets suggested testing him for a particular allergy.. Is that effective? Please help if you can... Thanks,

Answer
dear larry,
that would of been my advice to you.. allergy testing is one of the best things out there because maybe it is one particullar grass or dust or fungas or plant he is allgergic to.. and when you have the allergy test you will tell you about 20 diffrent option that he could be alllergic to. i have a Staffordshire terrier and she is ony 5 months and she is turning pink and itchy all over.. and i am doing the allergy testing on her.. i found out she is allergic to the chemicals in our weed killer.. and mold, chicken, and dust... it is a good thing but it can be costly...

dont use cortison (spelling might be wrong :) ointment for his feet when he breaks them open.. cortison keeps moisture in where with his feet we want to take it out so there is no future infection.

i would recomend little doggie socks or use your own socks to put on his feet to not have him lick right how and to not have him hurt himself when licking other places..

its a terrier thing to have really bad allergy.. so i would consult with your vet about it and you can see everything that he is allergic to..
hopefully i help
thanks
