puppy excercise and training

Question
I have a 9 week old male Queensland Heeler. When I got him from the breeder he had had no shots.  I took him to the vet after 2 days and began his puppy package of shots.  The vet advised me to keep him at home in our backyard and not to take him anywhere due to the fact he has not yet been vaccinated for parvo.  I am a little concerned that my yard will soon become to small to keep him entertained (I am a runner and go the park daily, so I plan to walk and run him daily).  I take him to my yard frequently to relieve himself and play, but how much exercise should he get daily? He does play indoors as well.  I have begun some leash training, though he mostly wants to chew the leash.  Is he too young for leash training?  I want to be able to walk him on a leash as soon as he recieves his parvo vaccination.

Answer
Hi Amy, Why hasn't he received his parvo vaccination?  He should have gotten that with his puppy package.  He can start leash training right now, and doesn't need a ton of exercise right now as he still is fairly young.  Get him vaccinated for parvo ASAP.  He should have had that at 6 weeks.  Hope this helps,

Dawn
