Question
I have a 4 month old Valley Bulldog who has yet to be neutered. Currently, we feed him 2 cups of Benafil puppy food per day. I'd like to add fruit to his diet as a treat. Can Bulldogs in eat apples? He's a house dog.

Answer
Yes, dogs can eat fruit. Grapes can be toxic, so you should not feed them (or raisins), but I do not know of any other common fruits that should be avoided. Make sure that with apples, you remove the stem and do not feed the part close to the seeds (or the seeds themselves).

You mentioned that you currently feed him Beneful. I would like to share a little bit of information about dog food with you, if you have a few minutes. I've put together a web page about dog foods, which is located at http://dogfoods.angelfire.com You might discover some things you weren't aware of if you take the time to read it over.
