QUESTION: hello Im in the process of adopting a german shepard male 7 yaesr old desexed , from a save a shepard foundation the lady has assured me he is a big sook gentel nature etc but my lil og is a pom cross chau and can be bossy etc Im at work 10 to 12 hours a day Im genuinly worried for her safety is thai a bad move on my part should I keep them apart on while Im not home

ANSWER: It probably would be a good idea to seperate them when you are gone,just in case-even with two dogs that are the same size it is a good idea until they really know each other,but this is esp true when there is a big size difference

QUESTION: another expert said it is seriously a bad idea as german shepards are more an alpha breed an as she is such a small dog would be looked upon and easy prey maybe not right away but eventually , now Im thinking its not such a smart idea

It depends more on your dog,rather then the breed itself,I have known pitbulls that had rabbits as playmates,yet have known of a bassett hound that killed a puppyfrom the sounds of it,this dog sounds pretty laid back so i wouldn't let that stop you,the best thing to do would be maybe to have them meet up somewere first and see how it goes
