puppy death

Yesterday...my hunting buddy had a pup get out of its pen...in a short period of time...the dog was laying dead. It was stiff as a board and still warm. It makes no sense. Do you have any idea what could have happened?

Absolutely no idea. I can guess but...that's all it is. How did he get out? If he dug under could he have injured his throat enough for it to swell and stop his breathing? Ingested something poisonous? Any wounds? Other dogs out and about that could've injured him? Anything he could've joked on? Any chance of getting hit by a car and someone moving the body back near the yard? Sometimes plants can be really poisonous and have a quick affect if eaten. I would have an autopsy done...especially if you have other dogs
