Nursing shih tzu mom and angel eyes

Question
Hi, I took in a shih tzu about 6 weeks ago..the man said the dog was spayed and had her shots.  She was very matted so my daughter shaved her. I took her to the vet and he said she was in great health.  Christmas day she looked like she was dying (she was a perfect angel up to this..frisky and great)  I was on my way to an emergency vet when the dog gave birth in my lap!  lol  Any way..the 2 puppies are healthy.  My girls hair is starting to come in beautifully and I wanted to know if its alright to give her the angel eyes to keep her hair nice while she is nursing.  I think I have to look for a new vet...this one didnt even hint she could be pregnant even when i commented on her large nipples the day i got her.  I told him the circumstances of how i came by her.  He also asked my why I was there the day after christmas. I had brought mom and pups in after I read online that this might be a good idea. I just wanted to make sure she was okay.  I havent owned  a pet in 25 years.  Thanks

Answer
My goodness! I would certainly look for another vet if he couldn't tell a dog halfway through her gestation, especially with milk production!

As for the Angel Eyes, I assume you mean the bleach for tear stains that is available for white dogs. Honestly, I don't know enough about it to give you an opinion on it, I have never used it. If I were you I would call the customer service number on the packaging and ask if it is safe for whelping bitches, OR, use a homeopathic whitening agent as found here:

Good luck with your three new bundles of joy! :)
