Question
I have a newborn baby, 8 weeks old, and a 9.5lb Havanese dog,
Lola.  Lola is house trained, meaning she uses a wee wee pad to
go to the bathroom, as well as going outside.  Since my baby girl
has arrived, Lola has been peeing on everythig but the wee wee
pad.  The more time I spend with my baby girl the worse Lola
gets. Any advice...??

Answer
This is a tough one that will take a lot of work.  First of all, share the baby with her just as you would with your mother or sister.  Let her know you expect her to be thrilled.  Give Lola as much time as you can afford, brushing her and playing her favorite games.

Lola plainly does not understand her place in the house.
Having a good pack structure reduces such problems.  The dogs see all the
people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in
the pack and a top dog.  Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members
outrank the 4 legged ones.  You can learn to play the role of top dog by
reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class
or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with
a treat. Start at http://www.dogsbestfriend.com/  The time you spend drilling her on her commands, is important quality time with her which she does need now.  Small dogs take themselves seriously.  Their owners must too.  They need obedience training as much or more than larger dogs.  A friend that manages Labs and Shepherds Ok, hired a professional trainer to help her with a Pug.

I had a yellow Lab named Lola.  A lean 70 pounds at a year old and the classic square head and large frame.
