My dog bit me. Should I be concerned?

Question
Hi

My question is just a general one. My 4 year old neutered lab gave me a nip which broke the skin yesterday. It is up to date on it's rabies shots and the nip it gave me was out of fear (not aggression). I was just wondering if I have anything to be concerned about. He is very playful and friendly - it just went a little "too far" yesterday.

Thanks so much, Jay

Answer
No, you don't have anything to worry about as far as rabies or anything like that. I would, however, be concerned that he felt the need to actually bite you. What were you trying to do? Sounds like he needs a lot of confidence building. I have a fearful dog, myself, but instead of biting, she runs away and 'hides' in her crate when she feels threatened.
