Dog Mouth Lump

Question
My dog has a lump on the inside of his upper lip/gums.  It bleeds often and causes him bad breath.  He often paws at it, and licks his fir when the lump begins to bleed.  It has been there since about August and has begun to grow larger.  He is about 9-10 years old.  Does this sound familiar to you at all?  Is there anything I can do for him for now?  Please and thank you!!!

Answer
Dear Ashleigh,

Thank you for writing to me with this question.  I am very concerned about this lump.  I can't figure out if it's on the gums or the inside of the cheek.  Please advise as to that detail.

If it's on the gum, it could be something that is lodged up in the tooth root, such as a bone or stick chard.  It could also be a tumor, especially if it's on the inside of the cheek.

You need to have your vet or a dental vet specialist take a look at it and do a biopsy.

If this is cancer, please get back to me for recommendations for holistic treatments.

Waiting to hear back from you,
Shelley Davis
