Dog started pooping in the house

Question
I have read other posts on this subject and all have other circumstances. I have a 15 month old beagle mix, we have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She has not had an accident in the house in the past 4 or 5 months. Over the past week or so she started pooping in the house. Today she even went outside and peed and then came in and pooped in the bedroom! My husband and I can't figure it out. Nothing has changed in the house or the routine. She is medically sound. No worms, fleas, illnesses etc. We don't know why this has suddenly started or how to correct it. She knows that she is in trouble as soon as we see it, we don't even have to say anything and she runs under the bed. Please help.

Answer
Hi Keri,
Something has changed for your dog.  It could be as simple as her having gotten constipated one day and it hurt her to go and she was, of course, outside, so she is associating pain with the outside.  Now she doesn't know what to do.   After you take her out in the morning, bring her in and put her on a leash, that is attached to your belt, so she will be in your view constantly.  Do this on a weekend so you will be around for this.  After a while it will become more urgent for her to go.  Let her out and watch her.  If she goes, good, if not, put her back on the leash and repeat the procedure until she finally goes outside again.
