Question
I HAVE A SAINT BERNARD THAT JUST TURNED A YEAR OLD. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE BREEDERS TO KEEP HIM ON PUPPY FOOD FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS. THE VET TOLD ME TO GIVE HIM ADULT FOOD AT A YEAR OLD. I AM HEARING MIXED OPINIONS. WHAT DO YOU THINK? HE IS CURRENTLY EATING THE IAMS PUPPY FOOD FOR LARGE BREED.

Answer
I think I would take him off of the puppy food. They are finding that the giant breeds need to be on lower fat and protein so that they don't grow as quickly as the excess calcium, etc. tends to affect their bones/structure, etc., and not in a good way.
