Hello again

I picked up my russle puppy 3 days ago and everything is going well with him and my lab exept that he chews on my blankets and bites my hands.... now I know this is normal for a puppy or so I've read but I have never had this problem as my lab was three months old when I got her and was really passive as she was underweight and over all not being well cared for by her breeder. So my questions are.....

What do I do when hes chewing my blankets or biting my hands?

Also how long does it take russles to reach adult size? will he be a lot bigger in a month or two?

Thank you for any help in advance.

I would like to know how old the pup is and was it with the mother the whole time? also...is it the runt or the biggest of the litter...?
thanks
nancy

He is seven weeks and supoibly was just weaned, all pups were simalar in size.

Answer
Usually when a pup is with its mother til 8 weeks, the mother teaches the pup about mouthing and chewing...she does this by taking the dog by the scruff of the neck and shaking it or when it is too big for that..growling at it. there are many methods for this behavior and one may work while others may not, it really depends on the dog. The biggest thing is to NOT let the dog get these items to chew. When you see him chewing them, take it...say "NO" sternly and give him a toy that is his and say good dog. keep repeating. You may try the same when he is biting you. As far as the size..it just depends on how they were bred. It will definately be bigger in a month but how big depends. good luck
