Growth/Food for rescued Labradoodle

Question
We have a Labradoodle, Lucy, that I received as a rescue pup at about 4 months old, she is about 9 months old now (we think). My question is mainly about her feeding needs.

She was very ill when we got her. She had kennel cough, was "down on her paws" (broken weakens?), and not very energetic. She didn't really know how to play, she had spent too much time in a cage that was too small. But you would never know her humble or sad beginnings now! She is fully up on her paws, playful, and healthy. We were told that one of her hips showed some dysplasia early on, but not sure if it cleared up, or even CAN clear up. We had her spayed 2 months ago and she began to shed suddenly about 2 1/2 months ago. We shaved her and so we can't tell how much she is shedding now, if any.

We have been feeding her with Nutro puppy food for large breeds for most of the time we have had her. We just started mixing it with Premium Natural (fortified with vitamins & minerals)adult formula from Pet Pantry in the past week or so to begin to switch over to their formula.  We have been feeding her about 2 cups of food twice a day and and 2 Pet Tabs (vitamins) all along. She doesn't seem the slightest bit overweight, but we are wondering about whether there are any dangers to this feeding schedule. At first, we were concerned to try to give her lots of nutrition to help her recover, but now I am not sure what we should be doing. She is about 30 lbs. now. I am worried that if we cut back she will be hungry too.

What do you suggest?

Thanks, Christine

Answer
Probably about a cup and a half will be fine for her-and it's better to feed twice a day as you as feeding too much once a day can lead to deadly bloat(the number 2 killer of dogs)

I don't think a small reduction in feeding will make her that much more hungry-but it's actually not bad for them to be a bit hungry,as overweight dogs tend to have alot of health problems, just as people do,I work at a boarding kennel and a cup and a half is what most dogs get(unless they are small, puppies are really large breeds)

However being underweight is not good for her either,if you find she if getting to thin at a cup and a half twice a day bring it back up to two cups
