poodle scratching

Question
I have 2 poodles, not related to each other, both males...the one scratches ALOT.  He has little sores around his neck from it.  He scratches mostly in the middle of the night.  I have tried anitbiotics & pills for scratching from the vet...didn't work.  My groomer has changed shampoos & doesn't clip his face against the grain & still he's scratching.  I feed them both boiled ground beef & rice with Pet Promise Organic dried dog food. Occasionally I give them each half a hard boiled egg..they eat Canidae Biscuits for treats.  What should I try or not try to solve this problem please.

Answer
Feed a decent chow and as little else as possible, seldom if ever bathe the dog, and brush it daily with a soft bristled brush.

Avoid overweight.  It can cause skin problems too.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest.
You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is
different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog
must have its food adjusted to its individual needs. Here is a link to a good illustrated guide,

If you just can't feed one of the well proven common brands, at least cut out everything except the Pet Promise.
