QUESTION: ok hello patti my female pitbull terrier had her first period at 11 1/2 months an she very often plays with her brother so i think nothing of it but 1 day while playing in the yard they got stuck together then every time they have seen each other for 9 times they have done it do you think anything will b wrong with the puppies/her? please help

Sadly, your female mating with your other dog was just an accident waiting to happen. There were genuine health benefits to be gained by having your female dog spayed before the onset of her first heat cycle. It's an opportunity that's been lost.

The only thing "wrong" here is that you let this happen. Without intervention, there will be another unwanted litter of puppies born. You can have the pregnancy terminated, and have your dog spayed, so that this will be the last time this "accident" can happen.

Hi Toler,

Eleven and and half months is not too old to have a litter. Breeding your female dog to her brother is the problem.

Breeding siblings isn't wonderful for the gene pool.
Genetic diversity is favored in the natural world.  The more related the parents are, the more likely the offspring will carry or inherit disease or disability.

It's for that reason that I recommended having one, or both of your dogs spayed or neutered.
