Menstrual cycles and dogs

i have an 8 month old bull terrier and i noticed a few days ago that she just got her menstual cycle.  how long does this usually last for and also how long do you wait to get her spayed?

A bitch is in season for three weeks, but some can go a bit longer so it is best to keep her confined for four weeks. Always take her outside while on a leash! Males will be trying to figure out how to get to her, just as she might be thinking of how to get to them.

She can be spayed a month after her heat cycle is over.
