Puppy not eating regularly

Question
I have heard the doberman puppies will sometimes skip meals.  I am worried can this is happening every couple of days, she will not eat in the morning, and sometimeswill not eat at night.  the food is the type that has been feed to her since she was weaned, she was raised until 12 weeks by her breeder, who herself has 5 dobermans.  I am just worried, could it be seperation anxiety from her litter mates or such.  She is still very active

Thank you in advance

Answer
Hi John;
You don't say how long she has been away from her litter mates.
I have not hear of skipping meals being perticular to a breed, but I have never raised a Dobie, so I don't know that much about that breed's characteristics.
To skip both meals in a day seems strange.
If she is under 4 months old, she should still be being fed 4 times a day.
at about 4 months I change them to three times, and at about 9 months I change to twice a day, depending on the individual dog.
You don't say what kind of food she is fed.
Could someone else be feeding her, maybe a neighbor, giving her things over the fence?
I would ask my Veterinarian about this.
Also, does she seem to be underweight?
What has your Vet said about the eating habits, and the food you are feeding?
That is a better judge.
The Veterinarian can see the dog, examine her, and tell if there is something wrong.
Separation anxiety could be a fqactor, if it is only a few days that she has been away from them.
If it has been a couple of weeks or more, there should not be that deep a level of anxiety.
Is she alone for long periods?
Or is there someone there with her all day, or most of the day?
Thse things can be a fqactor.
Does she get a lot of play time with you and/or children or someone?
I would ned more information to make even a good guess.
