what to feed 1 yr old pregnant chihuahua

while baby sitting a supposed neutered male chi my female got pregnant. I have done allot of research on the net but haven't seen much on what to feed pregnant chi's. She is a picky eater as is. When we got her she was table fed so it has been a difficult road. now that she is pregnant I am worried she is not getting the nutrition she needs.

You probably aren't going to like my answer. But you have to stop babying her when it comes to feeding. Pick what you are going to feed her, preferably a good quality puppy food, no bha, bht, corn, wheat, soy or by products, and preferably dry. Chi's have terrible times with teeth anyway and canned or moist food is horrible for them. If you want to cook for her that's fine too but pick something and stick with it. Put her food down for half an hour every morning and evening and pick it up. Ignore her during mealtime. She either eats, or she doesn't and you pick it up. In a few days believe me she WILL eat. Eating disorders just get worse with time and as badly as it might make you feel, she will NOT starve herself and she will not let her babies suffer either. I'm not sure how anybody could miss a 'neutered' male having testicles, but hey anything is possible,. Next time you see the person you puppy sat for kiss  them with the back of your hand on the back of their HEAD. Stop the picky eating problem now, you can do it. Just be strong :)
