The puppys gotten into people food!

Question
My family has 4 dogs- two very mixed breeds, one lab mix and one purebred rottweiler.
The question I have for you is about the latter. She's just a couple months old but so far she's been quite a handful. However, till now we had managed to keep her on a diet of strictly dog chow (the others eat a combination of 'people food' and chow) because of her very specific nutritional needs.
Tonight though, I lapsed and she managed to get into one of the other dogs' bowls and eat some of their food.
How will this affect her feeding needs? Will she still be interested in plain dog chow or is the damage irreversible?
Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.

Yours,

L.I.

Answer
Hello Leah and thank you for your question,

Seeing as she is only a few months old I assume she is on puppy chow not dog chow? A large breed dog needs to be on puppy food until the age of 14/16 months of age. Its hard to say... if a dog gets the taste of table scraps its hard to get them to eat there own food unless you leave it down all the time... thats what happened with my two oldest dogs.. my mother used to "drop" table scraps to them along with her tubby shi-tuz X's and now unless the food is left down all the time they wont eat it when  its offered! A good idea to pervent food stealing is put the three oldest dogs into one room and he in another with her meals it will pervent her taking there food and focus on her own meal. I'm not a fan of feeding people foods dogs get over weight so fast when they get bits and pieces from the table it is crazy how fast they can gain... they have a rather small calorie needs daily compaired to humans and even a small piece of cooked meat of a few mashed poatioes and gravy can make them gain weight. It wont affect her feeding needs if it only happens that once.

I hope this helps if you have any further questions feel free to ask,
