Question
my dog had left a mess in his room and this was his poop and a fair amount of blood what could it be he is old and how would you correct an enlarged anal gland

Answer
Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian. The blood in his stool could be due to any number of things from worms to a tumor to a ruptured blood vessel. Your veterinarian will make a diagnosis after examining him and checking a stool sample which you should collect and take in with you.

As to the anal gland, it sounds impacted, and could possibly also be infected, and will need to be examined and expressed by your veterinarian.
