1st time heat&male boxer

Question
My 1 year old pure breed rot is in heat for the first time how long does this process last?Can you possibly tell me why she is swollen in he area? My other question is i have a male boxer that is getting ready to turn 2 years old and he still has not tried to hump anything when do they generally try this? The rot and the boxer live together and they don't try to breed is this normal?

The process lasts about 3-4 weeks.  She will be ready to receive the male at   about 11 to 14 days, that is when she will be fertile.
She is swollen because the penis is very large after ejaculation.  Your male boxer (if not afraid totally of her)  will breed her at that time.  If you don't want them to breed then separate them early in case her cycle is off.
