Urination after spaying

Question
Hello:
My female, 10-month-old yorkipoo was spayed one week ago. She is recovering amazing well, not chewing stitches or changing behavior. However, she does seem to have an urge to urinate MUCH more than before the surgery. She urinates inside the house several times a day/night. (She was previously mostly housebroken) When we go for a walk, she stops many more times than prior to surgery to urinate or attempt to urinate. Toward the end of our walk, which usually last about 30-45 minutes, she wants to stop at least every few minutes, and from what I can tell she doesn't seem to be actually urinating ... just stopping to try. I don't know whether it has any bearing, but I also have a male, 15-month-old yorkipoo, who, of course, does like to mark during walks, though not nearly as much as she is now attempting. He is the alpha dog. Thank you for your help.

Answer
It sounds to me like your little gal might have picked up a bladder infection. I would contact your veterinarian about this.... possibly take in a urine specimen for examination. They will want one anyway to look for signs of blood and crystals.
