chihuahua itching

My chihuahua has worn a spot near her tail from itching so much. He itching started a long time ago, i can't pick the time exactly, she is four years old now. I feed her royal canin chihuahua food. I've been doing some research online and learned that the grains in the diet may cause some itching. She's been really itching more this last week- probably due to a supliment the vet had me give her once a day- I'm going to discontinue this. She has had an allergy shot earlier this year near april when she kept itching her eyes. Just looking for suggestions. As long as i can remember if you rub her back she makes a smile face and enjoys it. thinking of switching her food to Innova Evo Dry Food. Sounds like it may be a better choice and resolve this issue. What do you think?

It seems she does have allergies and should be on a hnypo allergtic kibble. The only kibbles marketed as hypo allgetic are fish and potato diets....I use Blue buffalo Co's sweet patato and fish formula for my two small dogs with allergies....there skin and coat have much inproved since being on this kibble for quite a few months now as compaired to when they were on Authorioty chicken from petsmart. Pro plan by purina makes a hypo allergtickibble, blue buffalo co does and purina one may also I'm not sure...you might be able to find different brands in your area that are the fish and potato as well.
