Question
Good morning Dawn,  My kids and I have just added a new member to our happy family. Astro, a chi is 2months old.  We are having a problem with him going to the bathroom on the pads.  I put him on the pads every time he gets up from him naps and for the most part he will go; but now he will not go #2 where he goes #1.

What can I do?

Answer
Hi Iris,  You need to start off keeping him in a bathroom, laundry room or other small room where you can put pads all over, and then place his food & water where you don't him to go in that room.  Keep him in this room everytime you can not keep and eye on him or whenever you leave the home.  As he starts to go to the bathroom, you will see the place he tends to pick to go.  Slowly remove the pads towards where he is going and you will see he will follow the pad that you have left.  Once you see that he is only going on the pad no matter where it is in the room, then open up his area to a bigger room.  Continue gradually giving him more and more space.  Soon you'll be able to have a couple of pads in the house and he will go to them to go to the bathroom.  This is a slow process as you are basically imprinting the puppy, which just takes time.  Hope this helps,

Dawn
