Question
I have a 6 year old chocolate lab that is losing her hair in clumps.  Could this be a sign of something really wrong with her?  She doesn't seem to scratch all that much but she does get hot spots on her stomach due to allergies.

Answer
Sometimes dogs lose hair from poor nutrition, Sometimes from allergies, some dogs are highly allergic to cheese and other dairy products, if the dog has allergies I recommend that you feed him lamb and rice dog food and no table foods, I would have a blood test done to rule out any dangerous diseases, dogs also lose hair when they have mange. Good Luck, Sincerely concerned, Angela
