grooming and tail

I have a 9 week old boxer. Madeline Grace we call her Miss Maddie.  Her tail has been cropped and is red and sore on the end.  what can I do for her?  Also can I give her a bath this young?  It is really cold out so I didn't know if I should when I have to take her out so often to potty, but she has the bad puppy smell

Hello Gina, Her tail was cropped when she was 3 or 4 days old and it should be well healed by now.  Is she chewing on it?  Either way you could put some vasaline on the area to take away some of the irritation of where the stitches were.  The area will possibly create a thicker scar area and the vasaline will help that too.  When you take her to the vet for her next shot show them.  As far as a bath, sure you can.  Use a puppy appropriate shampoo, (remember to rinse her very well as to not give her dry skin.  Also keep in mind a doggie shower is better than a doggie bath, is it far easier to rinse the shampoo out with a sprayer) turn the heat up just a little and while you are washing her put a towel in the dryer, when you are done bathing her wrap her up in the warm towel and towel dry her very well.  If you take her out to potty just before the bath, she should dry before her next one is needed.  Enjoy her, and by the way I love her name!  Thanks for asking, Cindy Lou :)
