puppy potty question

hi,
i just got a yorki bichon and he is about 15 weeks, i puppy proofed my house and let him run all around in it and leave him there while i go out. i tried to crate train him but all he did was bark and bark louder. i dont know what to do, he poops all around the house and i tried interrupting him and placing him on the potty pad, the spray but it doesnt seem to work. what should i do?

Since the crate didn't work,another thing you can do is to use a puppy pen and keep him in there and put papers down then when he starts using the papers let him have a bit more space(in a room with a gate up) and start to move the papers closer to the door
