Question
I was wondering if the mother dog does not seem like she has alot of milk for the puppies, is there anything I can give her to help?  Can I give her regular milk?  Please advise.

Answer
Hello Paula, If the puppies are already born, then you need to give the puppies caned bitches milk,(sometimes it comes in powder you can mix with water) you can purchase this from any vet or some pet stores.  This will help supplement any milk she may be lacking.  Giving her additional food or milk products will not necessary increase her milk supply.  But in any case if she is still pregant or is still nursing it is always wise to give her a good vitimin supplemented food to make her as healthy as can be.  Being healthy is the best cure for taking care of puppies.  If she is healthy and eating a good diet but still lacks milk for the puppies then resort to a supplemental feeding done by you with special puppy nursing bottles.  Good Luck, Cindy lou :)
