skin irritation on an 8yr old dog

My dog has a raised irritation on her side, it is about 1/2 inch diameter, scabbed over, and when i looked closell at it there seemed to be a center that began oozing when i applyed pressure.  She itches it and it seemed to hurt her when i put pressure on it.

Hi Alyssa, It sounds like your dog has a hot spot.  You can buy some hot spot medication over the counter at most major pet stores.  You want to make sure that she doesn't irritate it as it will make the wound worse.  You can clean it with hydrogen peroxide in the mean time.  Hope this helps,
