swollen Lf side of snout in Pomeranian

Question
My dog is 2 yrs old and has the left side of his snout swell. The first swelling was roughly a month ago. Now it periodically swells. The swelling does not affect his mood, eating, playing, etc. It is however tender to touch. I was curious if, like myself, he just has severe 'hay fever'? We recently moved to a different climate, where his eyes have begun to run, sneeze, etc.; as well as myself. I give him benedryl and it seems to help the symptoms. Is the swelling a serious thing? He doesn't appear to have any problems breathing. Just looking for a few opinions on the matter. Thank you. :)

Answer
Hi Lacy,

Facial swelling associated with allergic reactions, insect stings, infections, tooth problems, toxicity to some medications, certain cancers, or muscle inflammation. Treatment can vary depending on the cause of the facial swelling.

What's the use of guessing? Since this is a recurring problem, you should have our dog examined by your veterinarian. You may want to wait until her next flair up. If you can't get in to see the vet during that time, take pictures and show them to your vet.

Best of luck,

Patti
