dog chewing hair

my one year old Golden Retriever dog is chewing off his hair on his side and hip. I cannot see any skin irritation, nor do I see him scratching. I am at a loss.

it sounds like an allergy, could be a flea allergy, ensure he is up to date with flea prevention. You can trial diets specifically for dogs with allergies. If no success the chewing may be cause by anxiety. If this is the case you need to consult a vet
