Question
Hi, We recently adopted a very friendly APB from a shelter.  He kisses everyone he meets, but we are wise enough to be responsible with him.  We walk him only on a leash.  We have a small yard and live in a co-op.  What is the best way to keep our dog in our yard while letting him run off a leash for exercise?  We bought an electric fence and are having that put in.  We will let him play in the yard supervised.  However, if we have to be gone for a good part of the day, we are considering either putting a fence around the back yard, having one of those run lines installed between two poles, or buying one of those huge outdoor cages for him to stay in, just in case the electric fence fails.  What height of fence can pit bulls jump over?  Can pit bulls become injured or tear down a run line?  Is the large outdoor kennel a sturdy way to keep him safe while we're gone?

Normally, if we are gone for a half day, we keep him safely in the house.  However, if we want to go to the beach or some other day trip this summer, which of the above methods would you suggest?  If you do not feel you know enough about this breed, please refer me to someone who does.  I have had a hard time finding a pitbull expert on the net; and since I am new to the breed, I am still learning.

Thank you for your help.

Answer
All those ideas are great all of them I would recomend,it's personal preference what you use

Well a six foot fence it usualy what i would recomend for a pitbull,or any large breed as well,as that height is too high for dogs to bother climbing

I don't think he will hurt himself on a tie out either

And many dogs are kept in kennels all the time with no problems

Hope this helps
